The Butcher’s Daughter: Salad for breakfast

I’m the kind of person that has salad for breakfast.

Well. It happened once. But still, the fact I ordered a spicy kale ceaser salad instead of something with toast, and a green juice instead of a coffee, at 10am is crazy to me. Those are the kind of insane things a place as fresh and well put together as The Butcher’s Daughter will make you do.

I wasn’t even sure that The Butcher’s Daughter served food. The first time I came across the cafe was on Pinterest. It stole a spot on my “a girl must decorate” board due to it’s exquisite design and fabulous yellow accents. Originally I thought it was a homewares store that served delicious juice.

And The Butcher’s Daughter does serve incredibly healthy juices; healthy juices that make you feel like you’ve also purchased a new  body, but they also offer food. I can’t say enough good things about the spicy kale ceaser salad or the smashed avocado toast, but next time I’m also ordering the coconut yogurt parfait and/or the Tacos Verdes. The Goodness of Green juice was the standout for me: kale, cucumber, green apple, fennel, pineapple, thyme, blue green algae.

If you’re like me, you’re the type of person that has a healthy meal, such as the one above, and feels so lovely and shiny and clean and empowered and satisfied that you swear on everything you will change your lifestyle. I was all like “I’m painting all the walls white! Every detail in our house will now be yellow. We’ll have so many hanging plants we won’t even be able to walk around. Oh and I’m buying a juicer – an industrial one.”

“Calm down and eat your salad” Jack said. He has no patience for my health dreams and that’s probably because I suggested we share the grain French toast for dessert.
