Photo Journal: Hong Kong

Hong Kong is different than anywhere else I’ve ever been. It’s gritty and rundown yet modern and trendy. It’s artsy and dreamy yet practical and tough. All of these characteristics aren’t spread across different areas of the map, like most cities. They seem to live in harmony throughout every corner and alley Hong Kong.

I really loved Hong Kong. The colours, the dangerous streets, the art – the street art. The red taxis, and skinny trams, the food markets, the grumpy old ladies, and the playful stray cats. It’s an intoxicating mix of organised chaos and I couldn’t get enough. Other things that got to me: the bamboo scaffolding and the greenery, the travelator and the vintage signage. And! don’t even get me started on the subject of Hong Kong buildings.

When booking our US trip, we thought a seven night Hong Kong stopover was crazy. News flash: It’s not nearly enough!
