Coffee Date, Because…

Annoyingly, I’ve noticed myself saying “Time goes by so fast” way too much at the moment. Or maybe I’ve been saying it forever. I don’t know. Time goes so fast I can’t remember when I first realised it. But what is time anyway? Does anyone really know? Jim Carrey maybe does. Or maybe he’s just getting to me. I’ve come across him a lot recently (see: the Netflix documentary Jim & Andy, this red carpet interview, memes) and I love him more than ever. Anyway. Time passing actually boils down to the fact that I’ll be seeing my family soon. Woo! My parents, sister and her boyfriend are coming to Melbourne in December! All the exclamation marks! I’m taking them to Hobart and Rutherglen so if you have any recommendations then give me them, please!

Here’s a few of the things that have been taking up all that time that I’m obsessed with…

We saw this movie recently, haven’t laughed so hard in a long time.

And I already have tickets to this one next week.

My favourite instagram at the moment.

The difference between Emoticon and Emojis explained.

I also loved watching this in Hoyts Lux.

And now I’m infatuated with Taika Watiti and love his Ted Talk on Creativity

Really want this sweater.

Currently reading this big boy.

And listening to the latest episode of The High Low podcast.

This was so awkward but I couldn’t stop watching.

This essay by Brit Marling should be shared and re-shared and over-shared.

Coffee date, because…

We have so much to catch up on!

Despite it’s score on Rotten Tomatoes, I watched this on Netflix and really enjoyed it. I might wait a few months and read the book.

It helps that am obsessed with Leslie Mann.

Also, Olivia Wilde on Colbert is so close to perfection.

Late to the game but I’ve been admiring this lady’s hair lately.

Heading to the Robert Gordon Factory Outlet Thursday. Sale time!

Currently reading The War on Art. It seems I will re-read it for the rest of my life.

Oh, Hello on Broadway is on Netflix. YASSSS!

Are you a Catan fan? Follow this FB page. The more you read the better they get.

I need to find the time to watch all of these.

Song Exploder: a podcast breaking down the song writing process with the songwriter. Start with the Weezer episode, continue at your own will.

The best article I’ve ever read on hair. Ditto, Leandra. Ditto.

I still can’t get enough of this song. So sue me.

Luna the Border Collie

Luna the Border Collie

Shit has been going down lately! And by shit I mean dog poo, because Jack and I got a dog. We got a gorgeous little puppy called Luna. She’s a lilac and white border collie with cosmic blue eyes, and she is our best friend. She is 10 weeks at the moment and –talking like a true parent– is complete perfection, even when we wake up at 2am to take her out but she still pees inside, even when she accidentally bites us too hard and especially when she decides to eat the legs of our dining table for dinner and all my coffee-table books for dessert.

So life has been a bit crazy since we’re just figuring out life with a puppy, but we’re getting a hang of it now and adapting. I think all dog owners can agree: the best thing on earth is coming home to our girl. And is there a greater collective group of people than the dog owning community? We have made so many friends already and haven’t even visited a dog park yet.

Anyway…

BROAD CITY IS BACK!

Ilana and Abbi are on Marc Maron’s WTF. Listen! Listen!

I interrupt your regularly scheduled backpack lusting sesh so we can drool over this carry-on beauty.

I can’t decide whose part in this song in my favorite.

“Damn, Daniel!” explained.

Gilmore Girl fans, let us rejoice!

A story about how mom’s save the say.

OMG. This home. And it belongs to the owner of Catbird (the only jewelry store I’ve ever loved).

This is why the floor routine is still one of my favorite parts of the Olympics.

Imagine having this in your living room. YAS QUEENS.

Accommodation for your next NYC trip.

For those who say they don’t have time to read.

This on repeat to help us get through the week. (Such a good edit.)

Coffee Date, Because…

Regional Victoria is lovely. I know because I’ve been driving every-which-way around it for the past month, hence the amount of podcasts I’ve been recommending. This week I stayed in Ballarat and oh boy it feels like I’m 22 years old again. It’s the first time, since I met Jack, that I’ve felt alone. Not in a I’m-so-sad-and-lonely way, but in that majestic way of having free-time all to yourself. Usually, if I’m not with my husband, I’m with family, friends, or colleagues. But this time it’s just me, myself and I in this gorgeous Airbnb.

It’s funny how quickly one falls back into old habits. Before I shared a bed with Jack, I used to bring at least two books (one self-help, one fiction), two notebooks (one journal, one for ideas), whatever magazines I was skimming through at the time, my computer and my phone into bed with me. No one knows why, it just happened. And I always used to fall asleep to The Avett Brother’s music.

This week was like a 2010 re-run of my life in NYC. I woke up on top of Sloane Crosley’s novel “The Clasp” and singing “My heart like a kickdrum” every morning. I guess you can take the girl out of singledom but you can’t take singledom out of the girl.

Anyway…

This podcast has been keeping my spirits up while on the road. Start with the Adam Scott episode.

Still making travel resolution for 2016?

I love lists. And apps. And BJ Novak.

How good was Adele on carpool kareoke? While we’re at it, watch Jennifer Hudson’s too.

Are you still listening to Serial Season 2? Here is everything you need to know.

Zadie Smith on episode 4 of Lena Dunham’s Woman of the Hour is excellent.

Seth Meyers is the best for this reason.

A peanut butter cookie recipe that only needs 4 ingredients, guys!

I can’t believe this is true. But! great for watching on hot Melbourne days.

Obama goes in a car and gets coffee.

The scariest trailer ever.

The best trailer, ever. Can we buy tickets now?

The best of 2015 from The Onion. I can read this for hours.

My backpack obsession knows no boundaries. This is the new eye candy.

Did anyone else shed a tear when this legend finished his last professional game?
