Luna the Border Collie

Luna the Border Collie

Shit has been going down lately! And by shit I mean dog poo, because Jack and I got a dog. We got a gorgeous little puppy called Luna. She’s a lilac and white border collie with cosmic blue eyes, and she is our best friend. She is 10 weeks at the moment and –talking like a true parent– is complete perfection, even when we wake up at 2am to take her out but she still pees inside, even when she accidentally bites us too hard and especially when she decides to eat the legs of our dining table for dinner and all my coffee-table books for dessert.

So life has been a bit crazy since we’re just figuring out life with a puppy, but we’re getting a hang of it now and adapting. I think all dog owners can agree: the best thing on earth is coming home to our girl. And is there a greater collective group of people than the dog owning community? We have made so many friends already and haven’t even visited a dog park yet.

Anyway…

BROAD CITY IS BACK!

Ilana and Abbi are on Marc Maron’s WTF. Listen! Listen!

I interrupt your regularly scheduled backpack lusting sesh so we can drool over this carry-on beauty.

I can’t decide whose part in this song in my favorite.

“Damn, Daniel!” explained.

Gilmore Girl fans, let us rejoice!

A story about how mom’s save the say.

OMG. This home. And it belongs to the owner of Catbird (the only jewelry store I’ve ever loved).

This is why the floor routine is still one of my favorite parts of the Olympics.

Imagine having this in your living room. YAS QUEENS.

Accommodation for your next NYC trip.

For those who say they don’t have time to read.

This on repeat to help us get through the week. (Such a good edit.)

Coffee Date, Because…

Regional Victoria is lovely. I know because I’ve been driving every-which-way around it for the past month, hence the amount of podcasts I’ve been recommending. This week I stayed in Ballarat and oh boy it feels like I’m 22 years old again. It’s the first time, since I met Jack, that I’ve felt alone. Not in a I’m-so-sad-and-lonely way, but in that majestic way of having free-time all to yourself. Usually, if I’m not with my husband, I’m with family, friends, or colleagues. But this time it’s just me, myself and I in this gorgeous Airbnb.

It’s funny how quickly one falls back into old habits. Before I shared a bed with Jack, I used to bring at least two books (one self-help, one fiction), two notebooks (one journal, one for ideas), whatever magazines I was skimming through at the time, my computer and my phone into bed with me. No one knows why, it just happened. And I always used to fall asleep to The Avett Brother’s music.

This week was like a 2010 re-run of my life in NYC. I woke up on top of Sloane Crosley’s novel “The Clasp” and singing “My heart like a kickdrum” every morning. I guess you can take the girl out of singledom but you can’t take singledom out of the girl.

Anyway…

This podcast has been keeping my spirits up while on the road. Start with the Adam Scott episode.

Still making travel resolution for 2016?

I love lists. And apps. And BJ Novak.

How good was Adele on carpool kareoke? While we’re at it, watch Jennifer Hudson’s too.

Are you still listening to Serial Season 2? Here is everything you need to know.

Zadie Smith on episode 4 of Lena Dunham’s Woman of the Hour is excellent.

Seth Meyers is the best for this reason.

A peanut butter cookie recipe that only needs 4 ingredients, guys!

I can’t believe this is true. But! great for watching on hot Melbourne days.

Obama goes in a car and gets coffee.

The scariest trailer ever.

The best trailer, ever. Can we buy tickets now?

The best of 2015 from The Onion. I can read this for hours.

My backpack obsession knows no boundaries. This is the new eye candy.

Did anyone else shed a tear when this legend finished his last professional game?

Coffee date, because…

How funny! We’re both sporting gym clothes, ordering only one coffee and a green juice to follow. We are such New Year cliches.

And as a New Years cliche, we must talk resolutions. We just gotta! If not to actually accomplish them, then to get us started on a path. And I’m not talking proper life resolutions like “Run a marathon under four hours”. I’m talking cute, small, day-to-day food related resolutions like…

1. Drink one coffee a day. Two, tops: My husband thinks I’m addicted and he may be right. Just admit to it so we can all move on!

2. Try something other than the chips on the sides menu: I have a great gift for knowing when chips will be good at a restaurant. Trust my gut. Don’t take chances. Order something else.

3. Meditate for 10 minutes a day after work and before dinner: Use the Headspace app. this is when I give myself 10 minutes to sit on the couch and go through Instagram, anyway.

4. Keep the kitchen (this includes the fridge, Bianca) neat: I don’t need to explain this. Just do it.

5. Learn to cook healthy easy meals and keep the kitchen stocked so that I don’t rely on pasta when in a jam: The amazing Cookbook Book Club you have started with your friend Bel will help with this! Look at you go!

6. Eat properly to sustain the amount of running I’ll be doing this year: Great Ocean Road Marathon – Here I come!

7. DO NOT buy any more Doritos: Doesn’t matter if Coles has them on sale. PUT. THE. DORITOS. DOWN.

8. Please avoid spilling food on your clothe: If you do not succeed, call your mom straight away. she’ll teach you how to remove said stain.

9. Stop eating leftover food from other people’s plates: This is non-negotiable. It is not cute. Anymore.

10. Once a month, dress up real nice, make sure your nails are done and go to a fancy dinner: #treatyoself

New Zealand

Coffee date, because…

I’ve been so busy lately – I haven’t been answering calls, texts, email or letters. Forgive me. My family came over from the US for a few weeks so we could celebrate Thanksgiving and, finally, visit New Zealand(!!). But now I’m back with a vengeance and I can’t wait to catch up.

I’m up to date with this show and would really love for Season 6 to come out now.

The Dressmaker made me want to change my closet.

Now, this is a great sponsorship idea.

These girls are so funny.

Gorilla sales sky rocket after latest gorilla attack, The Onion reports.

Currently watching Nashville. I’m obsessed and I don’t care who knows it.

If Amy and Tina say we can watch both then #wecanwatchboth.

Recently went to this restaurant and bloody LOVED it.

My dream Christmas present, please!

Snow is coming.

I’ve started listening to this podcast. Try the episode called “How To Be Batman”.
