Adult Friends and Baseball

There is something truly special about making a friend as an adult. Not rekindling with an old friend from high school or a friend from work. I’m talking about a friend who you choose to hang out with for no other reason than they are awesome and you genuinely have things in common. For me, so far, that is MC (Marieclaire for short). I blush as I type this but I’m pretty sure she’s my first real adult friend. If you were in the room with me I’d be running away and hiding under the table in complete embarrassment.

Okay, enough about the mushy gushy stuff I’m actually here to tell you about Baby. Which is not a creepy nickname I have for MC – even though it’s probably believable after my intro – but the name of the restaurant where she met my family.

Tell me who your friends are and I’ll tell you what kind of person you are, my mom has always said. So of course, MC and my mom not getting along would have basically meant my mom not liking me. And how sad that would be for all of us!

Baby was the first place MC and I went for dinner when I got back to Australia so it only seemed natural to pay it another a visit with my family. The pizza there is always ace and the atmosphere is pleasantly busy and upbeat, but I have to say the menu is my favorite part. There are just too many options for deliciously cheesy pizza!

And I’m positive the pizza had to do a lot with it, but MC totally picked up a baseball bat, walked up to the plate like a badass and smashed the ball out of the stadium. I obviously don’t know much about baseball, but in this scenario my parents would play the owners of MC’s baseball team and would have rewarded her with pizza and wine for everybody!!

For that reason (and the Salsiccia pizza) Baby will hold a significantly spicy spot in my heart.

What I’ve Had There:

fior di latte, san marzano tomatoes, fresh basil, sicilian olive oil

fior di latte, gorgonzola, broccolini, spicy pancetta, garlic oil CAPRESE , fior di latte, cherry tomatoes, ligurian olives, fresh basil

fior di latte, spiced italian sausage, friarielle, chilli
